Aidan Turner and I also worked together on a roof garden in central Sheffield where the clients wanted a beautiful space to entertain in style. The terrace was very narrow, and needed to accommodate outdoor furniture, table and chairs, and a barbeque. Our design centered around the creation of bespoke planters which we made by hand so that we delivered beautifully textured columnar forms which were then complemented by commissioned steel elements, including a raised seating platform. All the planting had to be able to withstand intense exposure, and the resulting textures and colours created a lovely contrast with the industrial materials.
